Product Description
This is an uncommon species of horned ammonite called Mamites. These ammonites are found in the Cretaceous sediments of the Central High Atlas mountains in Morocco. This unusually large specimen is complete with RARE, fine grade preservation and its quality far exceeds most typically offered for sale. Out of a large collection we acquired several years ago, this was the only example prepared in a highly aesthetic "matrix wall" style of preparation. It is also at its maximum size. These traits make this an especially interesting candidate for interior design applications. Shell detail is amazingly well-preserved with dramatic, heavy horn processes. Rare internal leaf-pattern anatomy is plainly visible!
Would make an unforgettable house-warming gift or highly unique interior design fossil with its fantastic sculptural aesthetic!
