Product Description
A TRUE MUSEUM CLASS SPECIMEN OF PRE-COLUMBIAN STONE BEAD JEWELRY MOST CERTAINLY ONCE WORN BY THE HIGHEST CLASS OF WEALTH!
This is a spectacular and genuine Pre-Columbian bead necklace from northern South America that consists of authentic beads of the finest Carnelian. The Pre-Columbian culture of the Tairona chiefdoms is known for this shape of bead, a difficult and unique form to this specific culture. The hollow "bullet" design of each bead would have required extensive craftsmanship to make without breaking the beads. Each one is hollowed out and then tapered on the bottom of the outside. The beads were then drilled crosswise. This necklace consists of 100% AUTHENTIC ancient beads of the region and has been restrung for display, with a modern clasp. The central bead is flanked by ancient jade beads but all the rest are of the finest carnelian.
We cannot emphasize enough just how scarce a find like this piece is. With individual Pre-Columbian beads sometimes selling for prices in excess of $500 for a SINGLE BEAD, here you have a once-in-a-lifetime ensemble in original configuration complete with all shell and semi-precious stone components.
