From our private stash we have been holding on to for over 20 years, this is one of only three of the largest and finest of these rare Arizona Petrified Forest Formation Rutiodon teeth we acquired from the original collector's estate. For the duration of our career spanning several decades, we have never seen teeth of this size or quality come from a Rutiodon Phytosaur from ANY world source.
This rare tooth is an extremely unique offer because Rutiodon is not a well-known prehistoric reptile that dates to the Triassic Period where few vertebrate fossils are ever available for public sale. Another unusual feature of this fossil is its provenance from land near the Petrified Forest Formation in Arizona. This fossil tooth is from a very old collection we acquired over two decades ago. Originally found by a geologist surveying a private ranch land (hence their legality), this Rutiodon tooth was a rare discovery that will never be repeated. This tooth is THE LAST we have to offer - no more will ever be available.
This is a superb example from the side of the jaw where the teeth served to cut flesh. It is wide, thick and very strong to be able to sustain severe punishment. Serrations are present and well-defined with immaculate preservation. The enamel is intact with a stunning luster and a beautiful colorful hue.
A perfect specimen for the collector that wishes to own nothing but the best!
