This is one of the most colorful and supreme fossil Castoroides tusks we have ever offered. It comes from one of the most unusual beasts of North America's last Ice Age, the extinct Giant Beaver Castoroides ohioensis. This is the UPPER tusk and it features a rare, naturally lustrous enamel of gold, burnt orange and dark reddish hues. The front tusks are the most desired fossil of this creature. This is truly a PRIZE specimen that is COMPLETE AND UNBROKEN. It is whole from the portion that was embedded in the skull, to the tip. These tusks are extremely hard to locate in fine quality COMPLETE AND UNBROKEN examples like this one. The unique deep growth ridges are perfectly preserved and the tip is whole with a wear pattern from the opposing tusk when the Giant Beaver was alive.
