Product Description
This is an EXTREMELY IMPRESSIVE very large museum-grade specimen of EIGHT COMPLETE and ONE PARTIAL sea lilies (crinoids) Encrinus lilliformis, from the Triassic Period of the Alverdissen deposits. The size is the maximum found and the detail is incredible! Each is preserved in solid calcite with stunning, full 3D detail and anatomy. The preparation work that went into this piece to remove all the rock between the arms and stem sections to the level that is seen, was extremely time-consuming but yielded a fascinating display example. For the best collections or exhibits, this is an ideal candidate specimen as well as a perfect piece for a major interior accent on a wall. The preservation and natural positions of the crinoids are the best possible with long, graceful stems sticking fully off the rock surface. The site where these were collected has long since been closed so only old collection specimens like this are available. Acquired from a private collection in Germany and re-prepared in our lab on premises.
Typical repair but no fabrication of missing parts. All crinoids are 100% AUTHENTIC. Ready to hang with reinforced back side and hardware installed.
