Made of tabular flint patinated to a pleasing warm cream-white hue from desert exposure, this Mousterian Middle Stone Age hand axe biface exhibits STUNNING aesthetics. Flint Mousterian hand axes from Africa are RARE! It is classified as a CORDIFORM hand axe. It's Archaic human maker imparted numerous intelligent ergonomic design features in its creation. Made for right hand use, this hand axe fits so beautifully when held with features such as a flake removed for the web of the palm, flakes removed for the thumb, and a flat outer cortex retained for the right index finger to lay comfortably against the right side when held. As it lay exposed for millennia in the desert, the wind and sand erosion created its smooth, worn appearance highlighting its masterful flaking!
