Product Description
This is a RARE supreme grade association of fossil bones of a type of plesiosaur called an elasmosaur. The grouping IS NATURAL AND STILL IN THE ORIGINAL PLASTER JACKET AS FIRST COLLECTED. We received it in this form and removed much of the surrounding sand matrix to better expose the bones. A hardener was applied to the bones and matrix to make the entire piece stable and safe to display. The size of the vertebrae centra shows this is FROM A HUGE PLIOSAUR! The color is natural and only minor repair was done to the bones. When stood up on the stand and lit from above, the very high 3D relief of the bones makes the piece an incredibly impressive display specimen. Because the bones are associated, this piece is from an elasmosaur that died and was buried. An excellent specimen from a real-life sea monster of the prehistoric seas.
