EXTREMELY RARE FOSSIL DOG SKULL FOUND BY CELTIC ROMAN SITE IN HOLLAND *LMX182

It doesn't get any more rare than this offer!  In all our travels in Europe, we have seen scarce ancient remains of the wonderful relationship with humans and dogs.  Holocene fossils of canids found in association with human settlements indicate the strong bond that Man had with the dog - a bond that has lasted through the ages until today.  Coming from a 35 year Dutch collection, this skull was found during a major park construction and dredge operation along the Maas River that yielded a large amount of prehistoric and ancient remains.  Studies done on human remains found along with a few dog remains such as this one, included Carbon-dating the fossils.  The human and dog specimens showed a date range from the 5th to 3rd Century B.C..  This skull includes a complete upper skull with two mandibles that were from other dogs but were all found together and at the same time n the dredging operation.  They are the best preserved and most complete of the entire collection from the former owner who acquired them during the construction.  All the teeth are original and nothing was repaired other than fixing the two mandibles together at the mandibular symphysis. 

This is the ONLY skull we have to offer and as said, it was THE BEST of the entire collection of the dog remains found!  COMPLETE, UNBROKEN AND WITH NO REPAIR OR RESTORATION.  RARE!

This would make a phenomenal addition for a museum or advanced collector to display alongside Celtic or Roman material.  It demonstrates the ancient cultural importance and symbiotic relationship that humans and dogs had, in the Ancient World.
