Product Description
This fossil thoracic vertebra is from a juvenile Spinosaurus dinosaur. It is the main centrum of the vertebra, missing the transverse and dorsal process. The top of the vertebra shows an unfused joint where the dorsal process would have been attached. This indicates the bone was still growing and forming, a sign of a not fully grown dinosaur. We micro-blasted this specimen in our lab but the remaining sand is silicified to the surface in some areas. The strong mineralization of the sediment caused the exceptional preservation in the bone detail. Rarely are fossil dinosaur vertebrae found compared to the much more prevalent fossil teeth. A great fossil at a price of a fine quality tooth but much more scarce!
