Product Description
These CAPSIAN TRADITION flake tools were found on an exposed African Neolithic site in the Sahara Desert in Northwest Africa. Each was masterfully fashioned by African Neolithic humans (Homo sapiens sapiens) between 10,000 and 4,700 years ago.
This is THE FINEST examples of two Capsian Neolithic flake tool types. One is a large, SAW (DENTICULATE) and the other is a COMBINATION PIERCER and BLADE KNIFE. Both are EXCEPTIONAL examples, are UNBROKEN and AS MADE! The saw has a denticulate flaked cutting edge but it is also made in a wavy, larger edge that would have compounded the sawing effectiveness. It is truly a beautiful specimen! The ingenious BORER / KNIFE shows masterful secondary pressure flaking down the entire edge for spectacular display of workmanship of prehistoric re-sharpening and re-use. You could not ask for more impressive and top grade specimens of these two tool technologies of this African Neolithic culture! BOTH are of the highest degree workmanship and are complete and intact. Like all AUTHENTIC specimens, these show original mineral sediments still impacted in the hinge fractures and micro-crevices.
