CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT DROMAEOSAURS
These two fossil caudal (tail) vertebrae are from a large dromaeosaur "raptor" dinosaur from Northwest Africa. Post-cranial fossil dromaeosaur remains have always been rare fossil finds. Dromaeosaur bones are hollow, extremely fragile and rarely survive over time. This is why you seldom see any bones of consequence, leaving teeth and the rare claw, to be their only fossil remains typically found. The most commonly seen dromaeosaur bones are "toe" bones and even then, they are often from crocodile, turtle or simply impossible to attribute.
The specimens offered here are complete enough to correctly assign it to dromaeosaur, and one has a small cavity on one side of the centrum to show it is hollow, a unique trait of dromaeosaurs. Both are INTACT with NO REPAIR OR RESTORATION.
