Not only is the color natural but you can the rare presence of an exterior edge of the slab that once made up the cliff face where this specimen was dug from. The edge shows a surface of the original weathered rock, also displaying the exact colors and hues found in the body of the trilobite! You could not ask for a more aesthetic and supreme, investment grade example of an Ordovician large asaphid trilobite from North Africa as this. Off to the right corner of the head of the trilobite and seen in the surrounding rock are traces of other trilobites emerging up through the surface of the gray matrix, in the same red color as this beautiful example. The color is truly something to see - an inviting mix of salmon reds and pinks mixed with splashes of crimson red, gold and brown.
We have spent considerable time in Morocco and over many years, have dealt with some of the finest specimens that have come from that region of the world but this is one of the few of this kind in this color we have ever seen.
