This genuine European Neolithic flint artifact was originally discovered in Southwest France and is made of Grand Pressigny flint found in the region. It was made and utilized between 6000 and 5400 years ago.
With its multi-purpose features, this large flake tool was made on a very large, robust flake. It is a COMBINATION SAW (DENTICULATE) AND BORER. The one edges shows a purposely made irregular flaked cutting edge where the "teeth" of the edge would be well-suited to saw materials such as sinew, plant fiber, bone or wood. The prominent boring end has been carefully flaked to form a "tongue" for drilling or boring into materials.
This is a beautiful scraper with bright golden color and very obvious flaking for the two different purposes it was intended for. Wonderfully aesthetic and LARGE! This Neolithic flake tool demonstrates the refined skill and large flake usage of the Neolithic Period. It was intended for heavy use hence, its robust size and design. A specimen for the finest display of Neolithic tools of Europe! Original ground minerals and sediment still intact in hinge fractures and micro crevices - an indicator ONLY seen in AUTHENTIC specimens. NO REPAIR AND NO RESTORATION.
