NOTE: THIS IS THE LAST OF THE COMPLETE MAMMOTH TUSKS WE HAVE FOR SALE. WE WILL NO LONGER BE OFFERING TUSKS DUE TO CHANGING LEGISLATION IN AMERICA. WE CANNOT SHIP THIS TUSK TO NEW YORK, NEW JERSEY OR CALIFORNIA. IF YOU EVER WANTED A MAMMOTH TUSK, THE TIME IS NOW AS SUPPLY WILL SOON BE ENDING ON A NATIONAL LEVEL AND PRICES WILL SURELY ESCALATE FOR EUROPEAN TUSK WHICH ARE ALREADY THE RAREST TO ACQUIRE.
With this listing we present an EXTREMELY RARE tusk from the Woolly Mammoth, Mammuthus primigenius, of the last European Ice Age. IN ALL OUR 31 YEAR HISTORY, WE ONLY EVER OFFERED TWO CIRCULAR TUSKS OF THIS SIZE AND THIS ONE IS THE FINEST WE EVER HAVE HAD. This super rare CIRCULAR tusk IS COMPLETE WITH ITS HOLLOW END, unlike many that are sold as complete but lack this critical anatomy to prove it. Coming from an adult Woolly Mammoth, the twist and curvature of this specimen is of the finest form, a gentle spiral which is the most desired by seasoned collectors for aesthetics. Compared to the plentiful supply of tusks from Siberia and Alaska, tusks of European origin are the most scarce and are one of the crown jewel fossils of the classic European Ice Age. A beautiful custom made stand is included as shown hand-crafted out of hardwood and stainless steel.
Minor repair and crack filling was required only. The hollow end that was embedded in the skull is present and the portion of the wall of this end is intact. This is not a broken partial piece like many tusks offered on the market. This specimen has been stabilized to protect from any deterioration or damage. It is safe and durable to display in any interior environment. Truly it will make for a "show-stopping" exhibit for any private or public setting.
OUR TUSKS HAVE BEEN OUT OF THE WATER AND DRIED FOR OVER 5 YEARS AND ARE STABLE. MOST TUSKS SOLD ARE FRESH FINDS AND UNLESS DRIED IN A DEHUMIDIFIED ENVIRONMENT FOR A MINIMUM OF 2 YEARS, THEY WILL LIKELY CRACK AND SPLIT
SPECIAL NOTE: Russian (Siberian) mammoth tusks are so common that they are typically priced by weight instead of the individual merit of the specimen because of the huge quantity of Russian (Siberian) tusks available. They are like a commodity, not a rarity. True European Woolly mammoth fossils are far more scarce and rarer than Russian (Siberian) fossils and fetch higher market prices because of this.
WOOLLY MAMMOTH TUSKS are one of the most popular large display fossils of any collection. Even the casual observer recognizes this type of fossil and the value and appreciation of a COMPLETE fossil ivory tusk from the great Woolly Mammoth has garnered international appeal and awe. The famous Wooly mammoth can be considered the mascot animal of the Earth's final Ice Age and this massive beast most certainly gained respect to all that got in its way including both Neanderthals and modern humans. The lore of Cave Paintings and Neanderthal hunting parties are embodied in the magnificence and power of a genuine fossil mammoth tusk of Europe's final Ice Age where the Woolly Mammoth ruled the frozen tundra.
