This rare fossil is from Europe, was legally exported from Europe and can be legally shipped to any country. It was not illegally exported out of Russian (Siberia) as ALL Russian / Siberian Ice Age fossils are. Shipping Siberian fossils across country borders risks seizure of the shipment without reimbursement. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3757538/Photographs-reveal-illegal-mining-selling-woolly-mammoth-tusks-Russia.html
Never before, have we encountered such a complete and perfectly preserved half pelvis from giant Woolly mammoth, Mammuthus primigenius, of the last European Ice Age. In all our travels in Europe over the past decade and a half, we have seen only a handful of these bones and never one so large and well-preserved. There is a story as to why we acquired this bone in the first place. Many years ago, we had an idea to build a complete leg and half pelvis of a mammoth and finding a pelvis of the finest quality took so many years to locate, we eventually gave up on the project and had this fossil stashed in our unprepared inventory. Now, we have fully cleaned and conserved it and make this very rare offering as it is.
This RIGHT SIDE pelvic bone came from a FULL GROWN Woolly Mammoth. It is a prize specimen that is 100% AUTHENTIC, showcasing some of the rarest detail and genuine anatomical features ever seen in such a European example. This ONE AND ONLY example we have to offer and it comes from a private European collection that comprised 50 years of acquisitions at the sources! Never again will we have an example of this highly unusual Mammoth bone of this completeness, to offer for sale. Stunning ligament and muscle scarring anatomy detail is amazingly well preserved. Rarely do mammoth pelvic bones survive in this level of preservation. Even heavily restored ones are seldom offered for sale being reserved for the construction of a complete mammoth skeleton. Furthermore, due to the fragile nature of the edges and large portions of this bone, it is almost NEVER found complete necessitating extensive fabrication of large areas of the fan-shaped regions.
Not only does this massive pelvic bone represent a prize fossil of these Ice Age beasts, on display it is architecturally a pure work of art. An unknowing viewer might mistake it to be a masterpiece of contemporary work but instead of the high cost of a modern sculpture that really has no intrinsic value, the price of this exceedingly uncommon fossil barely communicates its true rarity and worth.
This specimen has been stabilized to protect from any deterioration or damage. It is safe and durable to display in any interior environment. Truly it will make for a "show-stopping" exhibit for any private or public setting.
