The fossil record in the European Ice Age, shows numerous instances of predation of large megafauna by apex predators such as Cave Hyena and Cave Lion. Numerous scientific papers have been published on the topic of Woolly Rhinoceros and Woolly Mammoths being either killed or scavenged by these terrifying killers as seen in the evidence of gnaw and tooth marks on the preserved bones.  Rarely if ever, do these fossils make it to the commercial market and we cannot recall ever seeing a more spectacular specimen published than one like this.  This is half a pelvis of a juvenile Woolly Mammoth from Central Europe (far MORE RARE than Siberia or Alaska) that has dramatic bite and feeding marks from Cave Hyenas.  Nearly every edge has been gnawed on and one point on the girdle edge shows severe bites as the hyenas bit deep into the bone to get to the protein rich marrow and spongy internal bone that these predators are known to have fed upon.  Of all the predation fossils we have seen from the European Ice Age, this is without question, the most impressive and definitely worthy of museum exhibit, and/or inclusion in a scientific paper.  Minor fractures have been filled but other than this, the fossil is as it was found, after cleaning.  This predator-prey relationship display fossil makes this piece an absolute ideal candidate for exhibition or teaching.
