At 9.75" in length, THE maximum size, this is an exceptionally large fossil penis bone (baculum) from the extinct giant Cave Bear, Ursus spelaeus, of Europe. It woudl have come from an enormous bear from the Final Ice Age. This specimen is in the FINEST PRESERVATION with no damage or missing any portions. Often, these are broken or missing the distal end to erosion but this specimen is not only the largest we have ever offered, it is in the finest possible condition. From a former private museum collection, fossils of the Cave Bear from Europe (NOT SIBERIA!) have become very difficult to acquire now with all the sources closed and protected by law. A RARE fossil for the most discriminating of collections. NO REPAIR AND NO RESTORATION.
True Cave Bear fossils from the European extinct Ice Age bear Ursus spelaeus have become quite rare in today's market. Fine quality examples of any fossil remains of the cave bear are scarce. The Cave Bear of Europe was a beast both feared and worshipped by Neanderthals and Cro-magnon man as they were forced to co-exist and compete for shelter during the final Ice Age. A classic beast of the Pleistocene, no vertebrate fossil collection showcasing animals of the last Ice Age and even primitive human history should be without some fine grade examples of fossils of this animal.
