CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT WOOLLY MAMMOTH
This is one of the most unique and rarest fossils we will ever be offering of the great Wooly mammoth, Mammuthus primigenius, of the last European Ice Age. It is a very large and complete left scapula (shoulder blade) showcasing some of the rarest detail and genuine anatomical features. Unbelievably well preserved and COMPLETE with all processes, this priceless fossil required only repair to the forked dorsal process and some stabilization and filling of small fractures. Every bit of detail you see above is 100% GENUINE. This remarkable specimen is rare for two reasons - it is very large from a huge, fully grown male, and it is COMPLETE. A scapula from this beast never makes it to the public market as they are too valuable to use in the building of a skeleton. Furthermore, due to the fragile nature of the edges and large portions of this bone, it is almost NEVER found complete necessitating extensive fabrication of large areas of the fan-shaped regions. THIS SCAPULA HAS NOT UNDERGONE ANY KIND OF TYPICAL FABRICATION. Specimens like this EXCEED what most museum could hope for. Not only does this highly rare and massive scapula represent a prize fossil of these Ice Age beasts, on display it is architecturally and geometrically a pure work of art. An unknowing viewer might mistake it to be a masterpiece of contemporary work but instead of the high cost of a modern sculpture that really has no intrinsic value, the price of this exceedingly uncommon fossil barely communicates its true rarity and worth. An understatement to consider this an investment class example!
This specimen has been stabilized to protect from any deterioration or damage. It is safe and durable to display in any interior environment. Truly it will make for a "show-stopping" exhibit for any private or public setting.
