This huge fossil MANDIBLE is of the massive EUROPEAN STEPPE BISON of the Ice Age, aka Bison priscus. While not fully complete, it is complete enough to see just how large the animal it came from, would have been. It is the largest European wisent bison jaw we have ever offered and the ENORMOUS original molar tooth is a further impressive testament to its size! A perfect fossil to display alongside Early Man artifacts as these animals were both hunted and worshipped (featured in nearly all cave paintings) by prehistoric humans.
This classic Pleistocene beast is also known as the STEPPE WISENT. It is important to emphasize that it is of EUROPEAN Ice Age origin rather than North American or Siberian. Furthermore, this is a TRUE FOSSIL from the days of Europe's last Ice Age when Neanderthals and Cro-Magnon Man hunted these beasts and memorialized their hunts and reverence for these creatures in their famous cave paintings. It is also important to note that this is a REAL FOSSIL found deep in the Pleistocene Period river gravel deposits. Bone and teeth preservation is excellent and all teeth are intact and original. Solid and stabilized for safe handling and display. NO REPAIR and NO FABRICATION.
