Product Description
Collected long ago when the Kem Kem deposits (now nearly devoid of good dinosaur material) once produced spectacular dinosaur fossils, this is a supreme quality dinosaur tooth from the large, swift meat-eater Deltadromeus agilis. High grade, properly identified specimens are very hard to locate and it has been over 6 years of overseas trips to the source in the Sahara since we have seen teeth of this quality. With much of the dinosaur fossil remains in this area now completely dug out and large parts of the formation leveled, it is likely that teeth like this will now be found mainly in older collections as this one was in.
This stunning example features a complete original crown with AAA preservation and NO FABRICATION OR COMPOSITING OF MULTIPLE PARTS TO MAKE A COMPLETE TOOTH. A single age fissure appears as a break but is not broken through. This can be seen in the lack of lines running all through the break on both sides. The serrations are impeccable and dramatically intact. The enamel is a rich, dark brick red with some superficial losses to both sides but still not a detraction considering the tooth is large, intact except for a single tip fracture and with crisp serrations. A tooth like this represents one of the highest possible qualities one can hope to find in these ULTRA RARE dinosaur teeth. One of the last ones we have from an old acquisition made many years ago.
