CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT DROMAEOSAURS
This is a nearly complete, and SUPER RARE fossil scapula (shoulder bone) of a large dromaeosaur "raptor" dinosaur from Northwest Africa. Major fossil dromaeosaur bones have always been rare fossil finds. Dromaeosaur bones are hollow, extremely fragile and rarely survive over time. This is why you seldom see any bones of consequence, leaving teeth and the rare claw, to be their only fossil remains typically found. The most commonly seen dromaeosaur bones are "toe" bones and even then, they are often from crocodile, turtle or simply impossible to attribute. The specimen offered here is complete enough to correctly assign it to dromaeosaur, and its broken end shows it is hollow in nature, a unique trait of dromaeosaur bones. The unique shape of the bone is unmistakably a scapula.
Despite years and years of overseas travel to the fossil deposits of the Kem Kem Beds in the Sahara, this is the first time we have had a bone like this from a dromaeosaur.
It is INTACT with NO REPAIR OR RESTORATION.
