At a size approaching nearly TWO FEET IN LENGTH, this is an ENORMOUS Arietites ammonite from FRANCE.  This MONSTROUS ancient marine fossil is far more impressive in person than any photo could convey.  It features incredible shell structure and lack of deformity for its size.  Extensive preparation work was invested to expose each delicate chamber ridge and the efforts have been rewarded with one of the most visually impressive ocean life fossils we have presented for sale.  It features a stunning basic shell coloration of black with iron oxide mineral  undertones offering an unrivaled beauty.  The shell has been sealed to preserve the natural black and iron hues.  The ammonite is still attached to a limestone block from which it was found and extracted from.  This serves as a stand to prop it up but it is not safe in this manner and needs a more secure stand, depending on how the end purchaser intends to use the specimen, hence we do not provide one with this piece.  100% AUTHENTIC WITH NO FABRICATION.  Caution as many of these are heavily restored and fabricated where parts were missing or unable to be prepared fully.
