This is an attractive, diverse and affordable collection of 5 authentic ancient Greek, Roman and Islamic terra cotta oil lamps. Each of these would have been carried and used in a personal context and some still exhibit a charred spout. There is also the lid of a 6th lamp included. Two of the lamps are beautiful decorated teardrop-shaped Roman examples. The two on the left in the first photo above are early Islamic examples. The lamp on the far right is a much earlier decorated ancient Greek example with its narrow, long spout and finger handle on one side. For an instant and reasonably-priced mini-collection of the 3 main ancient culture lamp types of the Western world in antiquity, this is a great set. Ancient sediment and mineral deposits still attached. GUARANTEED 100% AUTHENTIC AND COMES WITH A WRITTEN GUARANTEE.
Be wary of modern copies that have been around for many decades and sold to unsuspecting tourists and brought back as an "authentic" piece, now littering numerous old collections. In our own museum lab facility, we subject to rigorous inspection and authentic every artifact we offer for sale, accompanied by a written lifetime, unconditional guarantee of authenticity and proper identification.
