This is a SUPREME, solid and heavy partial tusk of a European Woolly Mammoth, found in the North Sea floor, off the coast of Holland.  It features incredible preservation and color.  This tusk end was found alone as you see it and amazingly, required NO work in any way other than a light sealer to protect its finish.  NEVER do you find a fossil mammoth tusk that does not require something done to it even if minor crack filling.  Most fossil tusks you see on the market are ground and sanded broken pieces made to look like a tip.  This is the only tusk end we ever had that required NOTHING to be done!!!  This tusk is unusually heavy, having been well-mineralized for thousands of years as it lay buried in the ocean floor of the North Sea, once a dry valley before the glaciers melted in the final Ice Age of Europe. 

Today, of the Woolly Mammoth fossil tusks you see for sale, the majority are recent finds and come from Siberia (illegal) or Alaska.  As recent finds, they are prone to cracking and splitting over time, lacking several years needed to properly stabilize the tusk.  Specimens from Europe are the rarest, as this one is.   Furthermore, this tusk was found over 20 years ago and is completely stable with no risk of falling apart.
