Product Description
Reedops is a classic Devonian Era trilobite from the Atlas formation. The prominent glabella (large, bulbous forward part of head) and the wonderful compound eyes are features one can never tire of admiring.
This is a CHOICE GRADE example of a Reedops cephalotes hamlagdadianus trilobite. This species has smaller than typical eyes and a larger than typical glabella. The entire trilobite is exposed, shown in a "DEATH POSE", partially enrolled which was believed to be a reflex response when in danger similar to modern pill bugs. Carapace is well preserved. Both eyes show individual lens detail. Nice natural color of the trilobite contrasts beautifully with the original limestone rock it was exposed from and is shown on.
With all our specimens, we include a written, non-expiring guarantee of authenticity. Similar to all trilobites found in the world, the only way these fossils are located is to break the trilobite-bearing rock therefore, repair and sometimes, restoration to the damage is unavoidable.
