This is truly an unusual and amazing Paradoxides sp. trilobite fossil that must be seen in person to fully appreciate. It is a natural double of two trilobites buried in overlapping, opposite directions. It is massive and both the positive and negative impressions of this rare specimen are present. Despite personally handling hundreds of natural specimens of this species, this is the only time we have seen such an unusual multiple example and with the negative half of the rock layer to prove its authenticity. This is a completely natural and bizarre double Paradoxides trilobite fossil and one that makes for an extremely impressive display piece!
The vast majority of multiple trilobite beds sold are composites where several individually occurring specimens are glued together. Here, you have the real thing! Other than repairs from damage incurred when excavated, these two trilobites are NATURAL. Furthermore, the negative impression in the host rock is also included, a testament to the authenticity and intact condition of this scarce natural double example.
