CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT MEGALODON
Despite selling many superb, investment-grade Megalodon teeth over the past years, it is very rare to get a tooth this nice today. Teeth like this are nearly impossible to find, this one coming from a 20+ year diver's private collection. This INVESTMENT-CLASS fossil shark tooth is from the jaws of a huge Megalodon shark! This spectacular specimen is loaded with so many features desired by advanced Megalodon tooth collectors. Teeth like these are getting certainly harder to come by in today's market. Current and increasing future demand will never be satisfied by the dwindling numbers of the truly top grade specimens such as this beauty, hence their constantly increasing prices each year.
Teeth like this are what make a collection stand out to the most hardened collectors. After handling thousands of Megalodon teeth, you become so desensitized such that rarely does any one tooth really impress other than the finest and most colorful. That is why a Meg tooth such as this is in a class all its own and sets the market. There is no shortage of $100 junk, beaten up gray and black teeth. How often do you come across one like this?
The stunning, highly NATURALLY lustrous LIGHT BLUE-GRAY and CREAM enamel on both sides of the crown is of the finest dense preservation. The tip looks like it has been dipped in champagne with a blush of dark gray lining gold hues, showdowing down the blade edges. This tooth's high luster is NATURAL and unlike many other dealers' teeth, has not been machine polished, dipped in oil, floor polish, car wax or coated with some type of artificial shine. The root is with an extremely dense preservation, contrasting with the lighter enamel. Serrations and tip are impeccably intact and crisp. Blade edges where the serrations meet the root on either side are unbroken. There are tons of Megalodon teeth out there on the market that will never be worth the money you pay for them and truckloads have been found for every single tooth that is of this quality. This specimen has absolutely NO REPAIR AND NO RESTORATION. A superb specimen that will give a lifetime of pride to its owner.
Megalodon teeth found in rivers are almost always heavily eroded and worn from the high energy environment in which they were subjected to. They usually have dull, sand-blasted enamel, peeling back from the core. The roots are often damaged. This tooth is amongst THE FINEST Megalodon teeth typically found. While we strictly avoid Megalodon teeth with restoration or repair, Caveat emptor as some Megalodon teeth in many dealers' inventories in the larger sizes and "seemingly" fine qualities have repair or restoration and this is not often disclosed to the buyer accurately either because of ignorance or dishonesty.
