This fossil Ceraurus pleurexanthemus is a RARE trilobite species that was collected a very long time ago from the world famous Ordovician type site of the Rust Formation in Trenton Falls, New York from the Walcott-Rust Quarry where famous paleontologists James Hall and Charles Walcott first opened and worked in the quarry. Most impressive is that this little creature is fossilized as if emerging from beneath a complete bryozoan colony that is fully preserved in three-dimensional form. Specimens like this are very difficult to obtain now and must come from old collections as this one did. Trilobite is in nice preservation with about 2/3 of the animal exposed. For a diverse North American trilobite collection, we highly recommend this piece as it is a scarce opportunity for such an acquisition. NO FABRICATION or RESTORATION.
