These CAPSIAN TRADITION arrowheads were found on an exposed African Neolithic site in the Sahara Desert in Mali, Northwest Africa. Each was masterfully fashioned by African Neolithic humans (Homo sapiens sapiens) between 8,500 and 6,500 years ago. The projectile points selected to make up this weapon set were hand-selected based on their premium features and condition from thousands of inferior quality artifact specimens.
At slightly over $30 each, this is a superb value of 24 carefully selected unifacial and bifacial tools and weapons including some excellent projectile points of this culture. These kind of tools are found in concentration on several sites but often, they are damaged or broken in either ancient times or due to careless modern handling. For every fine grade example, you can find hundreds of severely damaged or partial, junk specimens. This is a top grade set that was carefully assembled to display a variety of arrowheads from the African Neolithic in the Capsian Tradition culture. All of these are of fine grade, not commercial quality or re-chipped, typical tourist pieces! There are also scrapers included and numerous typologies of projectile points. The two center arrowheads alone, are choice examples of their type - the one being a bifacial serrated broadhead point and the other being a fantastic, unifacial arrowhead. High-graded out of hundreds and hundreds of inferior examples to make this fine set of 24 specimens, this would make a valuable collection for teaching or museum display. All are INTACT WITH NO REPAIR OR RESTORATION and represent some of the many different styles found in this time period and tool tradition. Superb patina and wind sheen on the surfaces from exposure.
